“This adorable house was very comfortable and had every amenity needed for a family vacation. Everything was close by, from amazing restaurants to cute shops, and of course the beach. The jewel of the Adriatic Sea, Croatia is home to more than 1,200 islands, but travel between them has long been dictated by expensive yacht charters and sluggish public ferries. In 2018, that’s set to change, now that UberBOAT, from the popular ride-sharing app, has launched on-demand transfers and private tours along the Dalmatian Coast. Hit the high seas in the direction of Šolta, a hilly isle a mere nine nautical miles from Split (the second-largest city in Croatia).
For dessert, you might consider a trip across town to Dylan’s Candy Bar at 3rd Avenue and 60th Street, a candyland come to life, with more kinds of candy than you ever knew existed. Each child gets a bag and you pay by the weight, so you can limit the damages. If you want to give the kids a real treat, the gigantic sundaes upstairs come with three scoops and three toppings.
The land where Walt Disney World resides is part of the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID), a governing jurisdiction created in 1967 by the State of Florida at the request of Disney. RCID provides 911 services, fire, environmental protection, building code enforcement, utilities and road maintenance but does not provide law enforcement services. The approximately 800 security staff are instead considered employees of the Walt Disney Company. Arrests and citations are issued by the Florida Highway Patrol along with the Orange County and Osceola County sheriffs deputies who patrol the roads. Disney security does maintain a fleet of security vans equipped with flares, traffic cones, and chalk commonly used by police officers. These security personnel are charged with traffic control by the RCID and may only issue personnel violation notices to Disney and RCID employees, not the general public.

Soar through towering trees on a zip line, raft down a whitewater river, hike a section of the Appalachian Trail, and go camping on a Great Smoky Mountains Family Adventure. This park has an incredible variety of plant and animal life, so look for old-growth trees, salamanders, black bears (do not feed or approach them!), wild turkeys, and, for a short period each spring, fireflies that blink in unison. Take selfies at Cades Cove, a popular stop for visitors, where you’ll see historic homes and churches. Go in the spring to enjoy the butterflies and wildflowers, or in the fall, when the trees turn brilliant orange, gold and scarlet.
This is the family-friendliest pick of the of the three Iberostar resorts on Montego Bay, with a kids’ club, water park, kids’ menus, and pull-out sofas in every room. The rooms are large enough to share with the kids, and the resort offers an awesome kids’ club with a water park, as well as a lazy river, an activities pool, and best of all, a rockin’ kids’ club with a water park, video game center, playground, pool, and arts and crafts. All-inclusive rates cover meals and drinks at the property’s six restaurants and six bars. Lucy’s Kids Club is free for kids ages four to 12, and has a (literally) cool water park, with a playground pool showered by fountains and a giant bucket that sprinkles water over the children as they play on slides and bridges. Babysitting is available for a fee.
This history museum of Florida features the heroic Seminole tribe whose past is told in multiple exhibits at the Smithsonian-affiliated museum that includes artifacts and life-like dioramas focusing on facets of Seminole life such as religious ceremonies, recreation, cooking, crafts, fishing, hunting and homelife – all complemented by the inspirational film We Seminoles. ahtahthiki.com
It’s hard to believe you are only an hour from London at this, Four Seasons’ only UK country hotel. Set amid 500 acres of luscious green fields, guests can watch the hotel’s horses frolick in paddocks from the sophisticated bedrooms of the 18th-century renovated manor with spoiling spa, while children can be happily entertained in the pool, at the kids’ club, cycling, playing croquet or tennis or even ‘owning a pony’ for a day or boating on the Basingstoke Canal. Staying close to Central Park is great but not necessary. Being closer to Times Square is handy for buying show tickets, going to shows, hopping on the tourist buses, and it’s just a bit more central than Central Park. Both are good locations though. If you’re staying longer than 2 or 3 nights then I would stay away from Times Square (Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Soho, Tribeca), but if it’s a short stay then being within a few blocks of Times Square is usually the best use of time.
Not only are you promised plenty of Disney-themed fun, you’ll also never have to worry about your child’s food allergies. You’ll get a separate menu, plus the staff (often the chef) will stop by your table to explain how they can assist with any dietary needs. Says one mom: “My son ate his very first ‘ice cream’ on a Disney Cruise thanks to their allergy accommodations. He was so happy to join in.”

Coming to NYC beginning of August with our 2 kids (7&9). We don’t really want to be in Times Square. We also want a nice hotel that has a bar we can get drinks at night. Free breakfast would also be a plus. Walking distance to restaurants (not chain). Kenleh
The Hawaiian Islands are a perfect vacation destination year round, and with summer being a time for family vacations, Oahu, home of Hawaii’s capital, Honolulu, has something for everyone. Surfing, snorkeling, and swimming are just the beginning. Hiking, deep-sea fishing, paddle boarding, and golf also attract travelers. A visit to Pearl Harbor is a history lesson and a reminder of our country’s past. Visitors can learn about the island culture at the Polynesian Cultural Center or experience the local cuisine. From sampling popular street foods like poke and shave ice to dining at sophisticated restaurants, food is always a key element of a Hawaiian vacation. At the Four Seasons Resort at Ko Olina, a short distance from Waikiki, Chef Michael Mina has opened Mina’s Fish House, a beachside spot serving fresh seafood caught in Hawaii’s clear waters.

Geared toward children ages 13 and under, the Pensacola Children’s Museum allows kids to explore history through hands-on play. On the first floor, the Discovery Gallery is designed to recreate life in Colonial-era Pensacola. Younger children can dress up and romp through a Colonial cottage, military fort, trading post and ship. On the second floor, older children can delve into interactive and interpretive exhibits that trace our diverse local history from its Native American roots and European exploration, through early American history and the Civil War, to the Industrial Revolution and our modern-era ties with the U.S. Navy.
Yes, baseball season begins in early April. You can get schedules of home games and order tickets at the web sites of the New York Yankees (nyyankees.com) or the New York Mets (nymets.com). If you want better seats than the team has available, check sites like Stubhub.com and Seatgeek.com, where season ticket holders often sell tickets for games they cannot attend. When the teams are playing out of town, both stadiums offer behind-the-scenes tours, with the chance to visit locker rooms and dugouts, see some of the expensive private boxes, and actually go on the field. Early in the month you can also see basketball and hockey in action. Madison Square Garden hosts the Knicks (nba.com/knicks) and the women’s Liberty (liberty.lnba.com)basketball teams as well as Rangers hockey (rangers.nhl.com) Barclays Arena in Brooklyn is home to Nets basketball (nba.com/nets) and Islanders hockey (islanders.nhl.com).

The 770,000-gallon aquatic wonderland features nine pools flowing over six levels, seven waterslides, a Tarzan pool with rope swing, a sand-bottomed lagoon, six waterfalls, caves, and the world’s first water elevator—all connected by a river that carries adventurous swimmers through rapids. For grown-ups at the Grand Wailea, there’s a swim-up bar in a grotto hideaway (tropical libations include a “surf’s slush” with Citron vodka, Grand Marnier, and frozen lemonade), and an adults-only pool. Parents can also unwind at the largest spa in Hawaii. Kids will never want to get out of the pool(s), but when they do, there’s a 20,000-square-foot kids’ center with video games, air hockey and Ping-Pong. Not to mention the namesake Wailea Beach.

Travel to the Danish capital has jumped more than 80 percent in the past decade, thanks in part to René Redzepi’s influential Noma restaurant (slated to reopen in its new location in February), as well as Scandinavian Airlines’ ongoing flight expansion. Today, Copenhagen is teeming with inspiring places to eat and drink, in addition to a number of sleek new hotels — so much so that the New Nordic food, beverage, and design movement has now spread worldwide. Even before it debuted in July, Restaurant Barr — the beer-centric boîte by Redzepi and chef Thorsten Schmidt that occupies the old Noma plot — was already garnering international attention. Then there’s Apollo Bar & Kantine, the recently minted, design-focused restaurant in the Kunsthal Charlottenborg gallery from Frederik Bille Brahe, proprietor of hit café Atelier September. Brothers Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, of Mikkeller and Evil Twin Brewing, respectively, have in the last couple of years introduced the world to experimental Danish craft beer, and their brews can now be sampled at bars and beer halls across Copenhagen and beyond. Stylish new places to stay, such as Hotel Danmark and Sanders, as well as a revamp of the classic, Arne Jacobsen–designed Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, reinforce the reasons the Scandinavian aesthetic is so popular right now. —Kat Odell

Originally, entry into the theme park and travel business was a side project of Walt Disney himself. As the Disneylandia project started to become a reality, Walt Disney Productions at Walt’s request set up Disneyland, Inc. (DLI) in 1951 and agreed to a design deal in March 1953 with WED Enterprises (WED), Walt’s personal corporation, which then included what would now be called Disney Imagineering.[CDL 1] With the WED concept designs and prospectus for Disneylandia, Roy Disney in September 1953 met with TV networks in a deal for Disney-produced TV show and Disneyland investment. American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres (AB-PT) agreed to the Disneyland, Inc. investment. Joining AB-PT as Disneyland investors were Walt Disney Productions (WDP), Western Publishing and Walt Disney.[CDL 2] Walt Disney Productions had the option to repurchase the Walt Disney, WED and Western Publishing shares (31%) by May 1, 1959, for $562,500.
