It’s hard to believe you are only an hour from London at this, Four Seasons’ only UK country hotel. Set amid 500 acres of luscious green fields, guests can watch the hotel’s horses frolick in paddocks from the sophisticated bedrooms of the 18th-century renovated manor with spoiling spa, while children can be happily entertained in the pool, at the kids’ club, cycling, playing croquet or tennis or even ‘owning a pony’ for a day or boating on the Basingstoke Canal. Hello! Thank you so much for the great article. My husband and I are travelling to America from Scotland in May for a family wedding in Washington DC then we are heading to New York in late May for four days with our 3 year old daughter.
Have a little one (or maybe even a hubby) who loves fast and shiny things? With over 300 cars, the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing houses one of the largest collections of Fords in the state. The museum opened in 1984 and since has become home to the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame.
Most of the royal wedding excitement will have settled down, and warmer weather will arrive in July. It’s the perfect time to take an open-top bus tour or stroll through Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens. Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s official London residence, opens its staterooms for tours on July 21, the beginning of only 10 weeks when visitors are permitted inside. The Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Palace should be on every visitor’s agenda as well. Wimbledon, London’s prestigious tennis tournament, begins on July 2 for two weeks of world class tennis and tradition, including the time-honored strawberries and cream. July events also include the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the largest annual flower show in the world. Music fans will enjoy Lovebox at Gunnersbury Park, British Summertime in Hyde Park, All Points East in Victoria Park, and more.
It’s one of the world’s great wine capitals, and like any great vintage, Mendoza is only getting better with age. Start your tasting tour in the Uco Valley, where Casa de Uco’s vineyard-view eco-villas will debut this year. Head down the road to to Vines of Mendoza’s Winemakers’ Village for small-production wines from the likes of Corazón del Sol and SuperUco, and to dine at winery Bodega Monteviejo, where renowned Spanish chef Nadia Harón cooks up Mediterranean-tinged fare inspired by the wines. In Maipú, wineries like Club Tapiz and Trapiche are giving visitors a true taste of the local terroir, using produce grown on the vineyard grounds in their restaurants. Back in town, plot your return trip over a pie at Francis Mallman’s year-old pizzeria, Orégano. With new direct flights from Lima, Panama City, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, and low-cost carrier Norwegian Air plotting dozens of new routes, tacking a Mendoza stop on to your next South American itinerary will be a breeze. —Sorrel Moseley-Williams
This contemporary art museum is located in the heart of the Miami art scene. Their mission is to “expand interpretation of contemporary art,” and they do so by featuring cultural influences such as fashion and architecture into their programs. The Bass too holds educational programs in high regard. (Closed for renovations until December 2016, operating out of temporary exhibition space at the Miami Beach Regional Library.)

Disney’s Village Resort — Became the Villas at Disney Institute and then Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The “Tree House” Villas were decommissioned for a time because they were not accessible to disabled guests. Until early 2008, they were used for International Program Cast Member housing. In February 2008, Disney submitted plans to the South Florida Water Management District to replace the 60 existing villas with 60 new villas.[28] The Treehouse Villas opened during the summer of 2009.
Tickets of 3 days or longer cost $21.30 less (including tax) when purchased in advance online or over the phone, as opposed to buying in person at the Disney World ticket booths, hotel desks or guest services. Some of the top destinations for families are the Caribbean, Florida, California and Hawaii, attracting vacationers with their sandy beaches and colorful sunsets, especially during the colder months and in the summer when there is no school and kids can get away for a longer vacation. Many families enjoy cruises which allow them to see many destinations in a short span of time. Mega cruise ships offer a wide variety of activities, from pools and waterslides to rock climbing and kids’ clubs. Consider the season – the destinations that work best in the spring and summer may not be as interesting in the winter. Resorts with water parks include the Arizona Grand Resort, the Lake Lanier Islands, the Gaylord Palms Resort. Unique getaways in the U.S. include The Cloister at Sea Island, The Bishop’s Lodge, Hilton Hawaiian Village and Grand Wailea Resort.
We are thinking about NYC for a 3 day trip. We are a family of 5, my wife, me, her sister, our two daughters, 18 and 9. We have a very limited budget and would like to stay somewhere we could catch the subway in a safe area. We do not want to try to drive in the city. We would like to see Times Square, China Town, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and possibly some other well known sites. We are traveling from southwest, VA. Please help us!

Inhale the refreshing ocean spray and the essence of Gatsby-era glamour at this stunning property dating back to 1868. Special outings, such as clamming at local farms, can also be arranged.

While summer is in full swing in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter south of the equator. For travelers who can’t wait to get onto their snowboards or skis, a trip to Chile could be just the thing, especially if they’d like to brag about skiing down the side of a volcano. Several popular resorts, Portillo, El Colorado, and Valle Nevado are just hours away from Santiago, and there’s more to Chile in July than snow. Excellent wine is produced in Chile, waiting to be sampled along with their outstanding meat and seafood cuisine. Hiking and mountain biking attract visitors for outdoor adventures, and with clear skies and little light pollution, many stargazing sites are popular with tourists as well. Admirers of art, architecture, history, and shopping will find lots to enjoy in Santiago.
Located in Key West, this museum offers literary enthusiasts the chance to explore the residence where Hemingway lived in 1931 and later died in 8 years later. As a bonus, observe the descendants of his former cats that still roam the area.
Start spreading the news: New York’s Times Square is an even bigger tourist attraction. Kick off a visit with the new NFL Experience — a 4-D movie theater that lets you feel rocked and shocked like a pro. See game highlights and do drills if you like. At Gulliver’s Gate, gawk at thousands of miniature figures, replicas of famous cities, trains that move and more. Pop into the new Opry City Stage, bringing Nashville to urban cowpokes with performances, exhibits and a restaurant. The National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey takes visitors on a voyage under the Pacific. But you won’t get wet.
Situated just off Piscataway’s Centennial Avenue, Radisson Hotel Piscataway-Somerset offers proximity to many of New Jersey’s top corporate offices, including Fortune 500 companies like Johnson & Johnson. If you’re looking for big-city excitement, New York and Philadelphia are both roughly an hour’s drive from the hotel. For nearby fun, travel just five miles to see the Scarlet Knights play football at Rutgers University.
Foot-stomping children seeking the proverbial pony will have no complaints here. With an on-site equestrian centre, Lucknam runs daily pony trots around the estate for little princesses (and princes). Duck herding, falconry displays, adult-and-child cookery courses – if the Cotswolds set revamped Center Parcs it would look a little like this. When it comes to prising them away from the ponies, there are even ‘Little Miss’ spa treatments.
Family life can be both wonderful and exhausting. That’s why The Great Family Vacation is so important—a time to make memories and celebrate your loved ones away from the daily grind. But with so many great family-friendly destinations in the USA, it’s hard to narrow it down. While our list leaves out a few of the obvious big-hitters like Orlando, Virginia Beach, San Diego, and Myrtle Beach, we’re featuring equally amazing spots, where the amenities for children are just as great and the welcome just as warm. With a little help from the local city experts at Apartment Guide, we’ve also highlighted some of the best kid-friendly attractions you won’t want to miss.
With 16 acres of picnic areas, strolling paths and serene surroundings, the Morikami Museum is one of Palm Beach County’s most treasured cultural attractions because of its ability to intertwine a beautiful connection between Japan and South Florida. Morikami also offers month-by-month programs that encourage the whole family to enjoy Japanese culture.
The Greek highway system has seen several recent upgrades, with a new route making the 2,000-year-old olive trees and lesser-visited ruins of the Peloponnese, the country’s southernmost swathe of mainland, more accessible. Completed in late 2016, the new A71 highway from Lefktro to Sparta shaves off two hours of driving time from Athens, and has also connected the Lefktro region to nearby Kalamata Airport, about 90 minutes away. Meanwhile, ports have been expanded at Gytheio and Katakolon — the latter a stopping point for the Viking Star, which launched in 2014. Farming is still integral to the region, and agritourism resorts like Eumelia constantly refresh their food and wellness-themed workshops, in addition to serving local dishes like maniatiki pasta with dry mizithra cheese, and moustokouloura, or cookies made with grape molasses. Goddesses seeking more temple-like accommodations should head to Porto Heli, on the eastern side of the Peloponnese, where everyone is talking about Amanzoe’s new Villa 31, a serene space with grandstand views of the surrounding coastline that contains a unique installation by light artist James Turrell. —Adam Harney Graham
Wind in the Willows author Kenneth Grahame used to stay at this Victorian seaside mansion when it was a private home and would approve of its reincarnation as a luxury family hotel. It has top-notch facilities for children including a crèche and indoor pool, while grown-up facilities include a spa and fine dining. Children receive two free hours per day at the crèche, a night-time baby listening service so parents can dine alone. There’s plenty for older children, including a zipwire and trampoline as well as watersports and the run of the beautiful grounds. Read expert review

TKTS is great for getting discounted tickets but it’s not so good at going to see a particular play. And that makes it hard to do with kids. Adults who just want to see a show (any show) can walk up and get good deals on a variety of shows (though usually not the most popular ones). But for families, already restricted by the limited number of kid-friendly shows, it’s harder to make it work. If seeing a show is important to you I would book directly with the theater for a specific kid-friendly performance.
Walt Disney World has so much more to do than just theme parks.  There is miniature golf, water parks, fishing, even pony rides.  You will find world-famous shops and eateries at  newly opened Disney Springs.  This area was formerly known as Downtown Disney and has undergone a complete transformation and expansion to create an even bigger Disney experience.

Tel Aviv has attracted a lot of attention for its nightlife and creative culinary scene in recent years. These days its center of gravity has shifted south, to the site of the ancient port town of Jaffa (technically part of the city itself). This month, the Setai opens in a former Ottoman prison; a new W Hotel housed in a 19th-century former convent and pilgrims’ hospice is scheduled to open in March. It’s just the latest in a growing list of upscale hotels, restaurants, and boutiques to arrive among the winding streets of this former fishing village. Jaffa’s once-shabby flea market is now populated by a number of high-end antique dealerships, which sit alongside trendy cafés and bars — many offering live music into the night. Don’t miss Maskit, an iconic Israeli fashion house known for its embroidery that has been recently reincarnated after closing in the 1990s. Numerous interesting chefs have also set up shop among Jaffa’s churches, mosques, and archaeological sites. Try Beit Kandinof, a restaurant housed in a 17th-century building, where creative dishes like artichoke-and-pesto bruschetta are served alongside local art exhibits. —Sara Toth Stub
