A well-located seaside hotel with a loyal following of returning guests of all ages. Although a no-surprises, traditional place, it benefits from friendly, long-serving staff and a refurbishment that has freshened up public areas and rooms. A big plus-point here is the indoor swimming pool, a boon for families looking for entertainment on rainy days. Very few Norfolk hotels offer this useful fallback. Children can share parents’ rooms for free. There’s a games room, and a children’s menu or half portions from the table d’hôte menu are available. Read expert review
1-day tickets are subject to price tiers: you have to pay a different price depending on the day of the year you are going, and whether it falls in Value, Regular or Peak season. Multi-day (2-day and longer) tickets are not currently subject to price tiers; days on a multi-day ticket can be used on any day of the year. Disney has announced that price tiers are coming for multi-day tickets, but we don’t yet know exactly how that will work.
Located just a four-minute walk from Epcot, this Cape Cod-in-Orlando resort has so many activities, one T+L voter admitted to skipping a day at the parks to hang out at the hotel. Like its slightly more buttoned-up sister, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, the Beach Club offers full access to Stormalong Bay and its sandy-bottomed swim zone, water slides (bigger kids love the one that starts from the top of a ship’s mast), and lazy circular river. Add an old-fashioned soda shop and a mini golf course, and it’s little surprise that families can have a hard time tearing themselves away.
We have 4 unique theme parks to explore. Consider how many days – Opens a dialog you’ll need to enjoy it all. Be sure your visit includes Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and our all-new Toy Story Land opening June 30, 2018!
Good for one year of unlimited admission at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It offers the same privileges and discounts as a Platinum Plus Pass at Walt Disney World (see above) and a Signature Plus Passport at Disneyland. All prices listed include tax.
Variety is the spice of life, and John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art knows this all too well. With a circus museum, art museum, railroad car, and lush garden, here you’ll find a full day worth of activities.
Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort offers plenty of fun for adults and children! Swim in any of the three pools, go snorkeling, or take a yoga class, among other exciting daily activities. Kids ages 3-17 will always find something exciting at the Explorer’s Club or Core Zone!
Located downtown, Historic Pensacola Village includes 27 properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Eleven historic homes and sites are open to the public, including the Lavalle House (1805), the Dorr House (1871), Lear/Rocheblave House (1890) and Old Christ Church (1832), one of Florida’s oldest surviving church buildings. Visitors can explore them all to get a sense of local life in the 18th and 19th centuries and encounter a wide range of architectural styles – French Creole, Victorian, Greek Revival and more. Tours can be self-guided or taken with costumed staff who bring local history to life through reenactments, demonstrations and audience participation activities, such as butter churning, woodworking and candle making. It’s a fascinating way to experience various periods of local history, from the early Colonial era through World War II.
In October 2007, Disney announced plans to build a resort at Ko Olina Resort & Marina in Kapolei, Hawaii, featuring both a hotel and Disney Vacation Club timeshare units. The 800-unit property, named Aulani, opened in 2011 and joined the other resorts not associated with a theme park, such as Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina.[52]
I am writing this from the AKA Times Square hotel and can whole-heartedly recommend it. They have 2-bedroom suite with full kitchen and washer dryer (and a large sofa in the living room). Great central location close to many different subway lines. Not the best area for interesting nightlife so may have to travel a little to find that (though there are several good places to get a drink nearby).
Have some hands-on fun at Cayman Turtle Farm, where kids can get up close with reptiles. It’s also a marine park, with freshwater and saltwater lagoons, the largest swimming pool on the island, two waterfalls, an underwater view of a predator tank, and a swim-with-the-turtles experience.
Hi, lived in NYC over a decade ago but for the 4th of July we are visitng NYC with the youngins’ ages 8 years, 5 years, and almost 2 year old. I am torn between staying in Time Square Double Tree or Le Parker. Any advice? We are staying for 2 full days and want to do the main sites, i.e. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park Zoo and MOMA and of course squeeze in kids activities (American Girl for tea with my 5 year old while the boys relax at the hotel). We really want to try to have moments to enjoy our hotel. Other hotel recommendation is ok too. Thanks in advance! Btw we are from Hawaii and we want our kids to have a memorable time in NYC without the stress of doing TOO much.
With ten pools, a sprawling (45,000-square-foot) water park, a shopping center, a spa complex, and more restaurants than you can shake a breadstick at, the family-friendly Beaches is one of the most features-heavy resorts in Turks and Caicos. With a pirate-themed Sesame Street Treasure Caravan; 12 miles of white sand beach; pools staffed by lifeguards; Pirate’s Island Waterpark featuring two waterslides; AND Crayola Art Camps (whew!), your little ones can be entertained while you head for a rum punch. For the tweens and teens, there’s a Martha Stewart Crafts Studio, a (teen-appropriate) nightclub and lounge, an Xbox games garage, and even a DJ academy.

This contemporary art museum is located in the heart of the Miami art scene. Their mission is to “expand interpretation of contemporary art,” and they do so by featuring cultural influences such as fashion and architecture into their programs. The Bass too holds educational programs in high regard. (Closed for renovations until December 2016, operating out of temporary exhibition space at the Miami Beach Regional Library.)
A Star Wars-themed section of Legoland California’s Miniland USA opened in 2011, with a similar version opening at Legoland Florida[94] in November 2012, just weeks after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise.

You might balk at the idea of sticky fingers in Sublime Comporta’s pristine villas. But children (if slightly older ones) are warmly welcomed here. Family days out run to gentle beach picnics, kayaking in the Açude, surfing and biking. Thrilling gallops (or lazy lollops) on horseback take in verdant farmland. All that, and it’s so close to Lisbon, you’ll barely hear the ‘are-we-there-yets’.
Ever find yourself wanting to hang out with bats, pet iguanas or take a simulated trip to Mars? The Museum of Discovery & Science gives you the opportunity to do all of these in the same day with exhibits to satisfy the whole family.
Tishman Company’s plans for two Walt Disney World hotels were rejected by new CEO Michael Eisner on September 30, 1984, marking a change in Disney architecture. New plans for the Dolphin and Swan hotels were submitted by Michael Graves in July 1986;[CDW1 2] ground breaking took place on January 28, 1988.[CDW1 3] The first non-Disney owned hotel, Pickett Suite Resort, opened in Disney World Village on March 15, 1987.[CDW1 4]
Walt Disney Imagineering created Disney Fair, a U.S. traveling attraction, which premiered in September 1996. The fair was poorly attended and was pulled after a few stops. Disney Entertainment Projects (Asia Pacific) Inc., a new Disney Asian Pacific subsidiary, selected a renamed fair called DisneyFest as its first project, taking it to Singapore to open there on October 30, 1997.[32]
If you’re planning a trip with the little ones, take the opportunity to go on some of North America’s most scenic rail journeys, which are guaranteed to offer picturesque views that can’t be experienced with any other mode of transportation.
Hi we are travelling to Washington from Australia in April 2017. We would like to visit NYC while we are there. Looking at spending 4 nights with 2 kids aged 13 and 10. The must sees are Museum of Natural History, Wax Museum and Statue of Liberty. We have tentatively booked the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan. Is this a good location? Which area should we be looking at to be quite central to what we want to do? We are planning to take the bus from Washington. Sue

Just about every adventurous activity imaginable can be found in Costa Rica: kayaking, zip-lining and surfing, to name a few. Plus, there’s the opportunity to see fascinating wildlife — monkeys, sloths, hundreds of bird species — right outside your door. Bonus: This exotic destination won’t bust your budget. Zip-lining, mountain biking, whitewater rafting: that’s just some of the GoPro-worthy action you’ll find at Sky Adventures Arenal Park. Too extreme? Try the three-hour walk across hanging bridges high in the canopies, or glide 3,200 feet above the rainforest in the Sky Tram. Take a break from the hot Central American sun with a day pass to the water slides and pools at Baldi Hot Springs Hotel Resort & Spa.
Nickelodeon fans, this is the place for you! Head to the Nickelodeon Village, home to the Aqua Nick water park, Just Kiddin’ Kids Club, Knick Knacks gift shop, open air theater, and Character Central, where you can interact with all the Nickelodeon characters you know and love!
Williams has all sorts of activities to make your vacation a memorable one. Watch a thrilling rodeo show, drive through graceful pine forests to spy on cute bear cubs and other fauna at Bearizona Wildlife Park, or take to the railroad and spend a day on the Grand Canyon Railway Adventure Package.
What child wouldn’t want to go coconut bowling amid the Nemo-like landscape of the eastern Caribbean? The kids’ club here hosts this and more: from board games and craft sessions to family-friendly movie nights. We’re guessing The Little Mermaid features highly, as aspiring Aerials can also learn how to swim like real-life merfolk – complete with requisite tails. It’s enough to make you shake a maraca, which you can also do.
The Park Hopper Plus option can be added after the initial ticket purchase. For instance, if you buy a 7-day Park Hopper ticket and decide on the 5th day of your vacation that you’d like to visit the water parks, you can add Park Hopper Plus for $26.63. If you have a 7-day Base Ticket, you will also need to add Park Hopper, so the total upgrade will be $106.50. This will add the full 7 extra visits, which you can use within the 14-day period starting on the day you first started using the ticket, NOT the day you bought the ticket upgrade. Upgrades are allowed within the first 14 days (day of first use plus 13 days) OR before midnight on the day you use the last admission, whichever comes first.

  1. In May 2017, Freeform cable channel aired a special documentary, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings based on the services provided by Disney Parks and Resorts unit, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. With success of the May special, the show was pick up as series with seven episodes to air in Spring 2018.[113]
Leaf-peeping and a thriving farm-to-table food scene (the country’s first CSA sprouted here) lure out-of-towners to the bucolic far western corner of Massachusetts. But the arts have long been their own major draw: Tanglewood, the Clark Art Institute, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival all call the area home, as does MASS MoCA, a popular modern art destination housed in a circa-1800s textile mill in North Adams.
Disney reportedly had plans to build a park named Disney’s America. The park was to have been located in Haymarket, Virginia, but local opposition to the idea persuaded Disney to abandon the idea in 1994. On September 28, 1994, Michael Eisner announced that Disney was canceling its plans to build Disney’s America after a bruising national media fight with Protect Historic America and aggressive local opposition in Virginia from Protect Prince William and other citizen groups.
While summer is in full swing in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter south of the equator. For travelers who can’t wait to get onto their snowboards or skis, a trip to Chile could be just the thing, especially if they’d like to brag about skiing down the side of a volcano. Several popular resorts, Portillo, El Colorado, and Valle Nevado are just hours away from Santiago, and there’s more to Chile in July than snow. Excellent wine is produced in Chile, waiting to be sampled along with their outstanding meat and seafood cuisine. Hiking and mountain biking attract visitors for outdoor adventures, and with clear skies and little light pollution, many stargazing sites are popular with tourists as well. Admirers of art, architecture, history, and shopping will find lots to enjoy in Santiago.
Discover one of the largest animal-themed parks in the world—home to more than 1,700 animals across 250 species and featuring exciting expeditions, wild adventures and elaborate parades and performances. This sprawling country resort hotel and spa, wrapped in woodland and golf courses, is modern in feel, with a few rooms retaining features of the original hall. You will not be bored here – take your pick from a range of facilities, including golfing, woodland walks, clay-pigeon shooting, quad bikes, a gym and indoor pool plus an ESPA spa. Several rooms have sofa beds or two double beds and interconnecting rooms are available. Children can stay in their parents’ room for free, but there is a 50 per cent charge if they sleep in an interconnecting room. For decent pub food, the Claret Jug is a family-friendly sports bar. Toy Story Land due to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018. This plans to feature various Toy Story themed rides and attractions including a Slinky Dog Roller Coaster and Alien Swirling Saucers, and Woody’s Lunch Box, a quick-service restaurant.
Everything’s truly up to date in the redeveloped Missouri side of Kansas City, which also spills into Kansas. Downtown is home to the Power & Light District, a nine-block dining and entertainment destination. In 2017, Outside magazine named Kansas City one of 25 “Best Towns Ever,” citing its “newly revamped downtown, a low cost of living, and emerging food and art scenes.” Add to that dozens of fountains, tree-lined boulevards, verdant parks and miles of bike trails. Known for barbecue, the city now is on the craft-beer map. Take the self-guided KC Tap Tour, which encompasses 19 breweries. The KC Streetcar running through downtown doesn’t cost a cent.
All tickets and options are nontransferable and nonrefundable and exclude activities/events separately priced. Water Parks subject to rehabilitation, seasonal and weather closures. Walt Disney World previously had its own small airport: the Walt Disney World Airport which was also known as the Lake Buena Vista STOLport. During the early 1970s, scheduled passenger service was operated by Shawnee Airlines with small de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter commuter turboprops which had STOL (short take off and landing) capabilities on flights to Tampa and Orlando.[42][43] The airport is no longer in operation.
What’s more, our theme parks continually have new projects on the horizon, so even the most frequent visitors will always find new ways to create lasting memories, year after year, in Orlando: Theme Park Capital of the World®!
This good-value small chain’s casual and convivial atmosphere belies its well-organised formula: comfort and style rule and, while the food is tasty, you can draw directly on the tables – so it’s a great place for children. The Odiham branch has excellent walking from the back door, and is set in a Grade II-listed 16th-century inn. Behind the car park there’s a footpath that leads through fields and along a canal up to the ruins of Odiham Castle. Alice Holt forest is nine miles (14.5km) away and has trails and a Go Ape ropes course for daredevils. Read expert review
Independence Day celebrations in new cities can be great experiences, with parades, fireworks, and local food specialties. A festival in Palermo, Sicily, would be memorable as well, and street food is part of the attraction. The royal wedding buzz may still be in the air in London, and with warmer weather, it’s a perfect time to visit England’s capital.
Some hotels in the U.S. provide all-inclusive accommodations, while others offer packages and plans with accommodations, meals and activities included in one easy price. These are our favorite all-inclusive resorts in the U.S. for 2018.
