The best way to find cheap hotels in New York is to use Hotelscombined.com – it searches hundreds of websites and finds the best deals. That said, you’ll need to compromise on some of your criteria if you want to find a budget hotel anywhere near New York City. And that most likely will be size or location (or both).

Family vacations create lasting memories of a slower pace of life, fun activities and new adventures. If your kids are young, it may be easier to drive to your weekend destination. Older kids can have fun exploring a new city, unique museums and historical sights. Be sure to leave plenty of time for family dinners, group activities and relaxation by the pool.
Much like the other sprawling resorts that line the beach in the swanky Marina Vallarta golf community, the CasaMagna Marriott features top-notch restaurants, pools, and meeting rooms, as well as lovely guest rooms and suites that feature modern amenities and contemporary furnishings. Housed in two towers, this upscale hotel is memorable primarily for its sumptuous Ohtli Spa and adjacent fitness center with indoor lap pool. Somewhat removed from Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife scene, it is a great spot for travelers who want to unwind away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Kids will enjoy the seasonal turtle release programs, as well as the sleek kids’ club.
Last Minute Deals and Packages: If you decide to take a last minute trip with the kids, look for savings and special offers, especially in the off-season. Lately we’ve been seeing major resort discounts even during high season, so once you decide where you want to go, call the hotel or resort directly and don’t be afraid to ask for a package deal before you book. Offers can include room discounts, dining and activity credit, free transportation to and from the airport, and other perks. Most hotels will let you book connecting rooms so that you can keep an eye on the kids while still enjoying some privacy on vacation. If you are taking a weekend trip to a major city such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco or London, hotels usually discount rooms on weekends because there are no business travelers on weekends, so it’s quite easy to find a last minute deal. In the Caribbean, look for all-inlcusive packages and affordable rates in the summer. Keep reading for more best family vacations.

For dessert, you might consider a trip across town to Dylan’s Candy Bar at 3rd Avenue and 60th Street, a candyland come to life, with more kinds of candy than you ever knew existed. Each child gets a bag and you pay by the weight, so you can limit the damages. If you want to give the kids a real treat, the gigantic sundaes upstairs come with three scoops and three toppings.
For outdoorsy families, Montage Deer Valley is a breath of fresh air. After waking up to the sight of the Wasatch and Uinta mountains (all of the 154 rooms, 66 suites, and private residences have views of the peaks), guests can hit the slopes at the Deer Valley ski resort outside their front door. Come spring and summer, families can go on nature hikes, take fly-casting lessons, participate outdoor photography sessions, and take all-ages yoga classes. Refuel at one of the six restaurants—there are also bowling lanes and arcade games—and at a nightly S’mores gathering around the fire pit. The house-made marshmallows are served year-round, and during winter months, Olympic Ski Ambassador Shannon Bahrke joins the group to share stories. The resort’s resident celebrities, Monty the Bernese mountain dog and his puppy pal, Parker, are available for petting sessions and photo ops.

It’s easy to see why this outcrop of land just an hour’s drive from Melbourne has long been a weekend retreat for the city’s well-heeled residents. Rolling vineyards in its interior give way to seaside villages and sandy shoreline. Travelers can swim with wild dolphins, visit wineries on horseback, or soar above the landscape in a gondola. And with a new flurry of openings, the region has begun to attract global attention. The latest addition is Point Leo Estate on the peninsula’s southernmost point. Set on 330 acres, it combines a tasting room, a 110-seat fine-dining restaurant, and a sculpture park, with more than 50 works by Australian and international artists like George Rickey and Inge King. Its arrival follows the launch of Jackalope, a seductive, art-infused boutique hotel neighboring a working winery. Elsewhere, Peninsula Hot Springs, a day spa set amid geothermal pools, is slated to unveil seven new pools and a new treatment list in 2018. —Carrie Hutchinson

Much of Walt Disney’s plans for his Progress City were abandoned after his death and after the company board decided that it did not want to be in the business of running a city. The concept evolved into the resort’s second theme park, EPCOT Center, which opened in 1982 (renamed EPCOT in 1996). While still emulating Walt Disney’s original idea of showcasing new technology, the park is closer to a world’s fair than a “community of tomorrow”. One of EPCOT’s main attractions is their world’s showcase which highlights 11 countries across the globe. Some of the urban planning concepts from the original idea of EPCOT would instead be integrated into the community of Celebration much later. The resort’s third theme park, Disney-MGM Studios (renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008), opened in 1989 and is inspired by show business. The resort’s fourth theme park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, opened in 1998.

“Funny and entertaining! Had a great driver/guide who was full of odd facts and opinions about various areas, events and structures in Boston. Provided commentary that assisted and enhanced both the educational and entertainment value of the tour. Also had a perfect sunny autumn day for the tour so that was great as well.” — TripAdvisor Reviewer
