St. Augustine’s picturesque and historic center appeals to all sorts of visitors. Many families come here for the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum, a fabulous swashbuckling resource offering interactive exhibits, treasure hunting, and more. For some outdoor fun, you could see the town on one of Ripley’s Red Trains, hit the play areas at Davenport Park or Project Swing Park, or turn towards the beach for a kids’ surf session. And for a truly unforgettable introduction to the locality, there’s always a helicopter tour over St. Augustine and Fort Matanzas.
Multi-day tickets (2-day tickets or longer) do not have tiers and are good any day of the year. Disney has announced that price tiers are coming for multi-day tickets, but we don’t yet know exactly how that will work.

The 1-Day Ticket: Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is valid for one admission to any one of these 3 parks on a date that is valid for the ticket type (Peak, Regular or Value). This ticket must be used on or before December 31, 2019 and is not valid at Magic Kingdom park.
Located just a four-minute walk from Epcot, this Cape Cod-in-Orlando resort has so many activities, one T+L voter admitted to skipping a day at the parks to hang out at the hotel. Like its slightly more buttoned-up sister, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, the Beach Club offers full access to Stormalong Bay and its sandy-bottomed swim zone, water slides (bigger kids love the one that starts from the top of a ship’s mast), and lazy circular river. Add an old-fashioned soda shop and a mini golf course, and it’s little surprise that families can have a hard time tearing themselves away.
Hi. Wonderful article and gave me some good options for family-friendly hotels in NYC. I am currently booked in with free cancellation at the Four Points by Sheraton NY Downtown. Currently at $268 rate without breakfast, some of my discussions on Tripadvisor forums tell me thats it’s not the best deal and with a little more spend I can get better properties with breakfast. Breakfast is important since with kids its easier that way, I would be coming down in June, 1st week for 4 nights with my wife and 2 kids (aged 14 and 8, daughter and son). Considering it is not the right amount of time to see NYC, I would like to make the most of it and stay in a place which is accessible to sights and sounds my kids can enjoy. I understand the Hampton Inns have good deals with breakfasts and some of the ones which I did shortlist should I cancel the four points include: Hampton Inn Manhattan Times Square North, Best Western Premier Herald Square, Hampton Inn Empire State Building, Residence Inn NY Downtown WTC, and the Holiday Inn Express Chelsea. Considering I am bad with the NYC geography it would be great to get your views. Basically if I get something around USD 300/night, family rooms with 2 double/queen beds, inclusive of taxes it would be wonderful.

Forgo fancy duds and pack extra swimsuits for the Abacos’ endless water activities, including boating, snorkeling, swimming and paddleboarding in the clear, shallow waters. Island-hopping is a must: Green Turtle Cay offers plenty of shelling and a bit of history at the colonial settlement of New Plymouth, while the Sunday-afternoon pig roast at Nipper’s Beach Bar & Grill in Guana Cay is a tradition — kids can build sandcastles and splash in the calm blue water while you wait. Abaco Beach Resort’s “Bahama Buddies” program introduces younger visitors to local children and invites them to spend the day together, learning how to catch and cook fish, make island crafts and crack coconuts. There’s a variety of accommodations for all family sizes: oceanfront rooms with two beds, and one-bedroom suites with a pullout sofa.
A clownfish-shaped pool, pirate ship, ping-pong hut, trampolines, mocktail bar, lego room, dress-up area, zip line and a water slide from the main building – there’s every chance this is the greatest kids’ club in the world. But we should also mention the on-island chocolatier, telescope-equipped observatory, enlightening eco centre and on-site reef for all ages, too. With all those distractions, us grown-ups will be in the life-affirming spa…
This genteel property opened in 1887 as a summer retreat for vacationers, who arrived at the pedestrian-only island by lake steamer and by rail. Since then, generations of families have enjoyed lawn games, after-dinner dancing, and promenades along the hotel’s 660-foot-long front porch. Kids today—who stay at the hotel free or at a significantly discounted rate—can also engage in more modern activities, like Quidditch matches, butterfly house visits, duck pin bowling, movie nights, and arts and crafts. Swimming in the hotel’s serpentine-shaped pool offers hours of fun for a budding Esther Williams—it is named after the pool-and-screen star, whose 1947 movie This Time For Keeps was filmed on the island.
Spa Weekends: Checking into a spa for a weekend can be the perfect answer to a busy schedule. Look up last minute specials at a hotel or resort near you and and escape with a travel deal for some well deserved rest. Carolina Beach offers an old-style boardwalk, a laid-back atmosphere and absolutely tons of activities for families to enjoy together. Take advantage of the water sports and seaside amusement rides (and grab some donuts from Britt’s). A few minutes down the coastline is Kure Beach, where you’ll find Ocean Front Park, with its boardwalk, gardens and beach—there’s even a giant pirate ship to play on. Continue down to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, which has some interactive exhibits and even an albino alligator.
Leaf-peeping and a thriving farm-to-table food scene (the country’s first CSA sprouted here) lure out-of-towners to the bucolic far western corner of Massachusetts. But the arts have long been their own major draw: Tanglewood, the Clark Art Institute, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival all call the area home, as does MASS MoCA, a popular modern art destination housed in a circa-1800s textile mill in North Adams.
Boasting the world’s largest collection of authentic pirate artifacts, this creative museum takes a hand’s on approach to education. Within the themed vignettes, you’ll learn how pirates sailed, lived, and died on Florida’s shores through fascinating tales and up close interaction with 400-year-old treasures.

There is no shortage of excitement at Grand Sunset Princess All Suites Resort & Spa! Kids can choose from four different pools to swim in or socialize at the Mini-Club or Teen Club during the evening.
What this Seventies building lacks in character externally, it more than makes up for in style, facilities and quirky touches. Kids have their own basement playroom with Nintendo games and table tennis (summer), playground with slides and swings, an indoor children’s pool — and even food for feeding ducks. Three hire boats are just the ticket for hot summer days, as are the gardens and riverside terrace. Children receive goody bags on arrival, there’s an early Ducklings dinner on Fridays, Saturdays and during school holidays. Three duplex rooms have a separate children’s space with television and private entrance. Read expert review

Thanks to its 1,000 acres of barrier island beach, this resort offers opportunities to explore all year round. Back at the 1928 Mediterranean-style resort, parents can relax at one of the four swimming pools, in the overstuffed chairs in the luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, (63 new rooms are set to open in April 2016), or at the new two-story spa with its own indoor forest and lagoon. For after-dinner entertainment, there are family movie nights at the 100-seat resort theater and Gold Brick Sundaes at the Wonderland Ice Cream Parlor. Repeat guests dream about the chocolate-butter-pecan topping.

Inside a turn-of-the-century brick warehouse, the Museum of Commerce is a reconstructed streetscape of businesses that operated in Pensacola between 1880 and 1910. Exhibits include historical stores for toys, hardware, music and leather goods, as well as gas station and a print shop, which contains one of the most extensive collections of antique printing presses and type in the Southeast. Horse drawn buggies and an antique local trolley car add to the nostalgia of this quaint recreation of Pensacola’s yesteryear.
Hi we are travelling to Washington from Australia in April 2017. We would like to visit NYC while we are there. Looking at spending 4 nights with 2 kids aged 13 and 10. The must sees are Museum of Natural History, Wax Museum and Statue of Liberty. We have tentatively booked the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan. Is this a good location? Which area should we be looking at to be quite central to what we want to do? We are planning to take the bus from Washington. Sue

Staying close to Central Park is great but not necessary. Being closer to Times Square is handy for buying show tickets, going to shows, hopping on the tourist buses, and it’s just a bit more central than Central Park. Both are good locations though. If you’re staying longer than 2 or 3 nights then I would stay away from Times Square (Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Soho, Tribeca), but if it’s a short stay then being within a few blocks of Times Square is usually the best use of time.
While most tourists come to the Sunshine State to get away from the snow and indulge in the beautiful sandy beaches, there’s actually more to Florida than just our infinite sunny days. It was reported in August 2014 that beginning in 2015, Disney planned to expand the presence of Star Wars throughout their theme parks (though it was initially unclear which parks) and could also create an entire theme park area dedicated to the film franchise. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger indicated that plans were to match what Universal Orlando did when they expanded and added a Harry Potter themed section to two of their theme parks. In 2012, Disney acquired Lucasfilm, which includes the rights to the Star Wars franchise and Indiana Jones franchise (which is also expected to see an increase in presence at the theme parks), and in December 2015, Disney released Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first of a new trilogy of films.[82][better source needed] Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was announced on August 15, 2015 as Star Wars Land, and is currently under construction at the Disneyland Resort in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Both lands are set to open in 2019. At D23 Expo 2017, Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek revealed Galaxy’s Edge as the area’s official name, announcing an attraction set inside the hangar bay of a First Order Star Destroyer. The Disneyland version of Galaxy’s Edge is currently slated to open first, with the Walt Disney World version following later in 2019.[83] In addition, it was announced that a Star Wars-themed hotel and resort are planned for Walt Disney World; the company aims for guest experiences to be “100% immersive”, with Chapek claiming that each guest’s stay will “culminate in a unique journey”.[84]
Yellowstone is a massive, nearly 4,000-square-mile park that hosts more geothermal features, including hot springs, mud spots and geysers, than anywhere else on Earth. Here you can be mesmerized by most famous, Old Faithful, which shoots steam as high as 185 feet into the sky every 90 minutes, along with many other lesser-known geysers, mud pots and brilliant multi-colored hot springs like Grand Prismatic Spring, named for its striking array of colors that match the rainbow dispersion of white light by an optical prism of orange, yellow, red, green and blue. The park is also famous for its wildlife, with an abundance of bison, elk and Bighorn sheep, along with wolves and bears. By staying just outside the park, you’ll find multiple budget-friendly options, like Kelly Inn West Yellowstone.
