Inhale the refreshing ocean spray and the essence of Gatsby-era glamour at this stunning property dating back to 1868. During the summer, kids ages 5-10 can go sailing, take nature walks, make crafts, and go scavenger hunting with the resort’s Sand Castles supervised children’s program. Special outings, such as clamming at local farms, can also be arranged.

Tishman Company’s plans for two Walt Disney World hotels were rejected by new CEO Michael Eisner on September 30, 1984, marking a change in Disney architecture. New plans for the Dolphin and Swan hotels were submitted by Michael Graves in July 1986;[CDW1 2] ground breaking took place on January 28, 1988.[CDW1 3] The first non-Disney owned hotel, Pickett Suite Resort, opened in Disney World Village on March 15, 1987.[CDW1 4]
Lang Walker named Kokomo after his childhood dingy, which says something about the family-friendly mindset at this private-island idyll. The Australian billionaire spent years developing his slice of Fijian heaven – but having opened it up to guests, he hasn’t forgotten about the little ones. Hermit-crab hunts, dolphin-spotting safaris, manta-rays swims… if it slipped your mind you brought them, we wouldn’t hold it against you.
In 1990, the possibility of a West Coast version of Epcot Center was placed in development.[CDC 4] This was announced as WestCOT in 1991, to be placed at the Disneyland Resort.[17] On July 31, 1990, a new 350-acre (140 ha) ocean-themed park and resort, Port Disney, was announced for Long Beach. Port was to have a cruise-ship terminal, five hotels, restaurants, and shopping area, costing $2 billion to build.[CDC 5] On December 12, 1991, Disney selected only one California project to go forward with, Disneyland Resort, which was to include the WestCOT Center, hotels, a shopping mall and a lake. [CDL5 1] Port Disney was abandoned in March 1992, and Disney canceled its leases on the Queen Mary and Spruce Goose attractions picked up from the Wrather Corporation.[CDC 6] Mickey’s Toontown, a new themed land at Disneyland, opened on January 24, 1993.[CDL5 2] Disney canceled its plans for WestCOT in mid-1995 due to financial issues at Disneyland Paris and the park’s projected high cost. That park was then replaced by plans for the California Adventure park, hotels and a retail district.[30]

The month begins with Canada Day, a national holiday, and continues with festivals, outdoor activities, and the best weather of the year. It’s a popular destination in summer, so be ready for crowds and consider your fellow visitors to be part of the fun. Outdoor activities include hiking, kayaking, golf, boating, and much more. One of the finest city parks in the world, Stanley Park, should be on every visitor’s must-see list. There are beaches, a huge pool, nature trails, paths for biking and walking, all with spectacular views. For scenery, it’s hard to beat a ride to the top of Grouse Mountain on the Skyride, or for the more daring, several zip line routes take riders over valleys and lakes with views of the ocean, mountains, and forests. This year’s Vancouver Island Music Fest, July 13-15, features names like Ry Cooder, Passenger, Arlo Guthrie, and Walk off the Earth.
Walt Disney World Florida (WDW) has everything you can dream of that is related to Disney – it is truly massive, making this the best Disney vacation holiday for the family. There are 4 amazing theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT Center, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom; all have their own spin  on the magic that is Disney and are filled with thrilling rides, amazing live shows, and all the favourite characters of yesterday and today.  Two huge water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, are the perfect compliment to the theme parks.  These parks offer similar features but they are themed completely differently and each has its own special features.  Snorkel over sharks at Typhoon Lagoon and play Frozen games at Blizzard Beach, no matter what floats your boat, these water parks will not disappoint.  To add to your fun day or night, WDW offers guests affordable family fun at its two miniature golf courses, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens &  Fairway Miniature Golf.  Don’t forget Disney’s Boardwalk and Disney Springs!

Thanks to its 1,000 acres of barrier island beach, this resort offers opportunities to explore all year round. Visitors can take a tour of the salt marsh onboard the Cloister Belle—a restored antique yacht—rent bicycles for an island history tour, or go horseback riding along the south end of Sea Island beach (riders must be at least 10 years old). Back at the 1928 Mediterranean-style resort, parents can relax at one of the four swimming pools, in the overstuffed chairs in the luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, (63 new rooms are set to open in April 2016), or at the new two-story spa with its own indoor forest and lagoon. For after-dinner entertainment, there are family movie nights at the 100-seat resort theater and Gold Brick Sundaes at the Wonderland Ice Cream Parlor. Repeat guests dream about the chocolate-butter-pecan topping.
Where do we go on the East Coast? Due to its acquisitions of Marvel Entertainment in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012, some Disney-owned franchises are represented in its competitors’ parks. Marvel Super Hero Island, a themed land featuring characters and settings from Marvel Comics, has operated at Universal Orlando Resort’s Islands of Adventure park since 1999, as well as the Islands of Adventure cloned ride The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal Studios Japan since 2004. Under Marvel’s 1994 agreement with Universal Parks & Resorts in regional terms, none of the Marvel characters and other persons related to such characters (e.g., side characters, team members, and the villains associated with the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, etc.) connected with Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Japan can be used at Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disney Resort.[89] Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disney also cannot use the Marvel name as part of an attraction or marketing and the Marvel-themed simulator ride.[90] This clause has allowed Walt Disney World to have meet and greets with Marvel characters not associated with the ones at Islands of Adventure, such as Star-Lord and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy[91][92] as well as Baymax and Hiro from Big Hero 6.[93] Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris either have or planned to incorporate meet and greets as well as attractions relating to the Marvel characters, as well as using the Marvel name and the Marvel simulator ride.

Grenada, known as Spice Island, remains one of the Caribbean’s under-the-radar gems, even though it’s got what every traveler wants: uncrowded beaches, preserved rain forests, and a lively local culture and cuisine. The island, which was spared from last fall’s brutal hurricane season, is poised to attract new luxury travelers when the Silversands Hotel opens in March 2018. The first major resort to open on Grand Anse Beach in 25 years, Silversands will offer 43 rooms and suites, nine villas, and the longest pool in the Caribbean. After a recent renovation, the beloved Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel is now part of Relais & Châteaux, only the fifth hotel in the Caribbean to be invited to join the celebrated hotel group. Getting to the island is a cinch — JetBlue added daily service from New York City last year, and Grenada is now a port of call for 33 new cruise ships — and visitors will soon have even more options for high-end stays, with Kimpton Kawana Bay and the Levera Beach Resort both in the works. —Devorah Lev-Tov

I’m heading to New York City in April (9-13) with my family. My wife, 8 year old son and I are taking the train up to NYC. We have opening day tickets to the Yankees game on the 10th. We also have Statue of Liberty (pedestal only) and Ellis Island scheduled for the 12 April. I still haven’t reserved accommodations yet, but came across your site and found a wealth of info. We prefer to stay in a place with a kitchenette to save money on meals. We plan to eat out, but not every meal. We are also interested in hotels that provide free breakfast if hotels with kitchenettes are too pricey. My wife loves to shop and just walk the city, so we have no specific location in mind. We prefer to be close to good shopping, restaurants, and activities for our son, but not to busy (I.e., Times Square). Are there any new moderately priced locations you can recommend for a family of 3 traveling to NYC in April?
